How do I do it? when I click to play some other game the download stops.

Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Download Restrictions -> Permit downloads during gameplay.
Or on a per-game basis: Right click -> Backdrop -> Updates -> Groundwork Downloads.

Sometimes you have to alt-tab and manually un-pause the download still.

Click the 'steam' give-and-take on the top left of the steam app. Open up settings, and go to downloads. Check 'allow downloads during gameplay' and so click ok. You should now be able to play games and download games at the same time.

Or play a non Steam game whilst the Steam game downloads.

when doing this limit ur download speed to 1-2mb lower then ur acual speed as steam likes to take all of it when its uncaped to the point u cant stream youtube.

First the game you want to play

Alt tab to steam and hit downloads. And so resume the download you want.

And finally render to your already opened game.

For Private games you tin can either ready them to follow Steam settings (usually not to download while playing) or can fix something different in Properties for each game.

Yous can play while downloading as long as you have made sure you ticked the box that allows you to.
