Letter From the Editor: GameRevolution's review scale has changed - williamsonandints

Today, the GameRevolution team is excited to reveal that we'll be moving to a 10-point scale for the first time in the site's history. This is a significant come forward for GR reviews, allowing us to more adequately reflect our thoughts connected the games we play with the scores we assign to them.

Over the years, GameRevolution's reviews have gone done few changes. First, there was the GR Describe Card, which rewarded games a score between an 'A' and 'F' rating. Next, there was our 5-degree scurf, which GR used right up until this year. Now, with the site set for larger and brighter things in 2021 and beyond, we're likewise shifting to big scores — from here happening out, GameRevolution reviews will run a score between 0–10, with delicious decimals middle.

gr review changes

So why the change? The simple answer is that the GameRevolution squad has wanted this improvement awhile. The purpose of reviews is to not only offer recommendations to our readers, but to also leave our reviewers a space in which they tail end express their thoughts and feelings on a game. The score at the end of a review encapsulates these thoughts into a number for readers who are bereft of sentence, with the previous 5-point plate sometimes undermining that. Quintuplet is a small number, y'know? Giving a game we really enjoyed but had issues with a 3 out of 5 ever felt a little inexact, but now we have five whole new numbers to play. 6–10, we're looking forward to using you.

You can check away our full grading system hither, but we've enclosed a summary down the stairs:

10: Legendary

One for the ages. The cream of the crop. Information technology doesn't draw whatsoever better than this.

9: A-one

Play this game ASAP.

8: Great.

On that point's a great deal to love here.

7: Good

It's valuable your time.

6: Average out

Walks the line but does little other.

5: Mediocre

Whatever might enjoy it, but it's still not a good game.

4: Unsound

We can't recommend it.

3: Terrible

Some modest ideas still don't make this worth playacting.

2: Dreadful

Don't subject yourself to this, eve if it looks like it might be okay.

1: Abysmal

Not worth your prison term, endeavor, or money.

0: Tragic

We implore you not to play this game.

This is the first in a number of exciting additions to GameRevolution we'll be pealing out throughout this year, then keep your eyes peeled on the site for announcements in the near-future day.
